If you are able to see the “Contacts” Tab on the website, you should be able to also view the “Home/ Announcements” Tab. This is where we have been posting Water Updates.
The latest this morning is that as long as the Cove Ditch (main water supply to the lake) continues to rise, the pumps will run on Saturday, May 19 from about 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This should help give people enough irrigation water for strictly Plants, Gardens and Flowers. Please do not use sprinklers! With a very Dry Winter and even Dryer Spring, we are at the mercy of the weather and irrigation water from a very low lake which is in very short supply. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are all in the same boat.
5/16/2012 7:15pm – Limited irrigation water available
Update on the water situation from Dave (chair of the water committee):
Please do not attempt to water your lawn at this time.
URGENT — Irrigation System Water Notice
OFFICIAL NOTICE
From
Lakeside Home Owners Association
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The source for our water system here in Lakeside is the Cove ditch. Currently, Cove ditch is at a drastically low level therefore we are unable to use the pumps necessary to run our water system as we are accustomed to.
We asked for permission to pump water from the high ditch. IF, and only if, we are granted permission, it will be at least a week to get the water level back to an acceptable amount to safely turn our pumps back on. If we are able to get the water back to an acceptable level, all Lakeside residents will be allowed to use the water system for GARDENS, PLANTS, AND FLOWERS ONLY!!!
ABSOLUTELY NO USE OF THE WATER SYSTEM TO WATER LAWNS!!
If anyone is seen using the water for this purpose, the pumps will be turned off immediately. I am sorry to sound so stern and rigid but it is truly to such a state that there is no other way around this.
As of our Board meeting last night (5/14), we plan to turn the pumps on this Wednesday (5/16) evening and again over the weekend for only the purposes discussed earlier in this notice.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL DAVE SEDER but rather check the website regularly at http://lakesidesub.com. We are committed to providing timely updates to keep everyone informed. After this notice, the website will be the only means of communicating any updates. Also, please do not assume the water system is up and running just because your neighbor may be using their sprinkler…please verify from the website.
As a reminder, it is illegal for any unauthorized person to tamper, meddle, alter, damage, or interfere with any part of the Cove ditch including any head gates, openings, accesses, or equipment. The ditch itself as well as the easements on both sides belong to Cove ditch. Not only is it illegal to tamper with, it puts our agreement with them at risk and could jeopardize future use of the water for our Association.
The following is for a perspective that you may not have or not realize…or maybe just some food for thought as to the magnitude of our water consumption:
For the average lawn…
25 gallons per minute
x 20 minutes of use per zone
500 gallons per zone per use
x 4 zones
2000 gallons per yard per watering
x 80 yards in the neighborhood with sprinkler systems (approx)
160,000 gallons per day
Your respect for the situation at-hand and strict adherence to the directives of this notice are greatly appreciated. Together, we can work toward a speedy resolve and hopefully avoid further interruptions to our water service.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Merenz
President, Lakeside Home Owners Association
Water System Update
As most of you are probably already aware, the water system is not operating 100% yet. We are at the mercy of the Cove Ditch filling the lake. The ditch has only been on here a week so it takes time. With an exceptionally dry spring, the water level of the lake is not high enough to run 100% of the system. When you find the system is on, please be a good neighbor and refrain from operating your system 100%. Hopefully, the system will run this weekend (May 12-13) so some lawn sprinklers can be used. Next week the system will operate on a part-time basis.
Water for Outdoor Plants
News from the Water Committee:
Plans are in motion for getting the water system running. Please be sure your outdoor water valves are closed (shut-off) so that when water is pumped through the system to your yard you won’t have a flood.
Some limited water could be available by this weekend (April 28ish) for outdoor plants; however, lakes are much too low for any lawn watering at this point.
It is just turning out to be One Dry Spring this year and water is only available on a limited basis.
Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.
2012 Clean-Up Day
Saturday, April 21 has been set for LHOA Clean-Up Day.
Details will be posted soon! If weather does not cooperate, a back-up date of Saturday, April 28, will be used.
Spring is Here–Please keep it safe in the Neighborhood!
We are all enjoying the nicer, warmer weather outside. Please be aware of, especially, children and pets in the streets and SLOW DOWN. A couple of vehicles are definitely in the radar for going too FAST on Cut Throat and Longmeadow. All streets out here have speed limits… Mostly 25 mph or less. Please SLOW DOWN AND KEEP IT SAFE FOR ALL.
Committee Openings
Donna Schaaf is resigning from her position as Architectural Committee Chairperson so a new chair will be required. If you would like to volunteer for the Architectural Committee (or any other committee – volunteers are always needed!) please contact Martha through the LakesideSub.com contact page.
